Microgaming, the world’s largest and the top online casino gaming software provider has a surprise for all of you that simply can’t wait for October to get your Halloween decorations up.
Coming your way is a brand-new Halloween slot game!
Halloween Slot
Microgaming has teamed up with Compass International Pictures, brokered up by Creative Licensing Corporation to secure the licensing rights to develop a slot based on one of the most terrifying films ever released, the American slasher film from 1978, Halloween. The slot will feature the iconic characters and the renowned soundtrack, and is scheduled to be released later this year since it’s currently in development.
“We are excited to team up with Creative Licensing and Microgaming to bring Michael Myers and Halloween home to all of our loyal fans in the best possible ways through top licensees who create products we feel honor the character, film, and franchise,” said Ryan Freimann, SVP of Compass.
Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence starred in this movie classic directed by John Carpenter and co-written with producer Debra Hill. The plot takes place in Haddonfield, Illinois, a fictional town that encountered the horror of Michael Myers. At the age of six, he murdered his sister on a Halloween night in 1963 and then 15 years later, on October 30, he escaped from Smith’s Grove Sanitarium and returned to the town to continue his kill spree.
Halloween was only the first film in the franchise, with a total of ten films released to date. First film was produced on a very small budget of $300.000 and went on to become a worldwide success as it’s made over $70 million.
Box Office Hit
Halloween has earned $47 million at the box office in the United States and $23 internationally and it is regarded as one of the greatest movies of all times and one of the most profitable independent films. Nearly 40 years later, the movie continues to be “culturally, historically and aesthetically significant” as Library of Congress said when the United States National Film Registry selected the film for preservation in 2006.
Since Microgaming currently offers over 600 casino games and guarantees at least 2 new titles every month, it’s no wonder that they picked this film since it already has produced many successful branded titles like Tarzan, Bridesmaids, Terminator 2, disputed Game of Thrones slot game, Hellboy, Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. They clearly enjoy the challenge of bringing this film to life.
“Halloween is a true classic and set the standard for modern horror films. It was immeasurably influential in the slasher genre of movies, so it is great to be working with such an iconic and respected brand,” said David Reynolds, a games publisher at Microgaming.
“Embracing all the elements of what made the movie such a success, our games team are busy developing a slot for release later in the year.”, he concluded.
